THE Album

I had been sharing demos with friends and other musicians for more than four years, hoping for critiques that might help me improve the songs for my first solo album. Unfortunately, most comments have been positive, when even I don’t think the demos have the punch they need.

So, this is the year. Not asking for anyone’s opinions or suggestions. No sneak previews. Laying down each song one after another. You’ll hear it when it’s done

2/8/2026-2/14/2026

  • Working in Acid Pro on BD, WY, KIU and AMSE. Live guide tracks and adding what I hope will be the final drums and bass.
  • I saved two takes of the bass on BD, one too boomy and the other too thin. BD needs a new bass track for the final mix.
  • WY has a way of carrying me off to a slow modal Bop I’d love to last forever.

2/1/2026-2/7/2026

  • Dropped in a tack of rhythm ideas for WY.
  • Edited lyric of BD second line of the third stanza.
    • The original line said what it needed to say but sounded awkward.
    • The replacement rolls off my tongue.

1/25/2026-1/31/2026

  • Wrote the first stanza and chorus of WY.
    • It felt more like transcribing, coming to me when I woke Sunday morning.
    • Arrangement ideas: brash through the first verse, followed by softer with jazz chords, ending where it began.
  • Simplified arrangements of BD and KIP.

1/18/2026-1/24/2026

  • Electrified acoustic or solid-body electric? Both sound good. Neither sounds right.
  • My voice sounds great! Terrible cold.

1/11/2026-1/17/2026

  • Added lines to KIU.
  • Stripped down KIU intro.

1/4/2026-1/10/2026

  • Experimented with instrument settings.
  • Set up new studio monitors: PreSonus Eris 3.5.
    • Clean sound! No bass or treble boost, flat response.
    • When can I find time to use them?
